We have met with countless stakeholders over the past five years — elected officials, ministry bureaucrats, ratepayers groups, and hundreds of homeowners. We have urged property owners to write to their MPPs, but we recognize that doing so requires a fair amount of effort; and that rank-and-file MPPs are very limited in their power and ability to influence Government policy and action. Property owners need to speak out.

We have been taking your message directly to the Government of Ontario. We continue to meet with provincial representatives to press our interest in property tax reform in Ontario.
We held a News Conference at Queen's Park on Tuesday, April 15, 2008, where we presented an independent study that clearly demonstrated that the 2008 assessment will again be the cause of major shifts of property tax onto urban centres and waterfront areas across Ontario. Since the release of these latest assessments we have heard from countless property owners who are suffering from continued shifts.
We are a volunteer association, on a very limited budget. So undertaking a massive advertising and awareness campaign is, unfortunately, not possible.
